Enduring Legacy – The Story of Hinckley by Philip Yorke
Enduring Legacy: The story of Hinckley
Hinckley and the English Civil Wars. In the middle of the Seventeenth Century, a group of men from the small Leicestershire town of Hinckley – some friends, some foes – rose from obscurity during the bitterness and brutality of the English Civil Wars, and carried out extraordinary feats for the causes they were committed to. Author Philip Yorke talks about the legacies these remarkable figures left behind and how some of their achievements would enrich the town for centuries to come.
Philip Yorke (known as "Tony") is a former Fleet Street journalist who has a special interest in history – and loves reading intelligent, multi-layered plots and well-told stories. His books about the English Civil Wars – Rebellion and Redemption – have received widespread acclaim as they recreate the brutal and uncertain times of seventeenth-century Britain when a brother fought against a brother, and a King waged war against his people.
