ON NOVEMBER 14TH 2024, ON THE KINGS BIRTHDAY, THE SOCIETY WAS AWARDED THE “KINGS AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE 2024”.
THIS AWARD IS THE EQUIVALENT TO AN MBE FOR VOLUNTARY GROUPS.
WE HOSTED A SPECIAL EVENT AT THE HERITAGE CENTRE FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS, ALSO IN ATTENDANCE WAS DAVE ANDREWS DL, A DEPUTY LIEUTENANT OF LEICESTERSHIRE AND ANNE & SIMON LUCAS REPRESENTING THEIR FATHER THE LATE DUNCAN LUCAS, A FOUNDER MEMBER OF THE SOCIETY IN 1980.
WE HAD A CAKE SPECIALLY MADE TO MARK THE OCCASION, WHICH WAS CUT BY ANNE & SIMON LUCAS.
THE CAKE WAS SUPPLIED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND HIS WIFE, AND THE PRESIDENT MIKE FORRYAN AND HIS WIFE LINDA SUPPLED SEVERAL BOTTLES OF "FIZZ" TO CELEBRATE THE AWARD AND TO TOAST THE KING
