Clubs & Societies

The purpose of this project is to elicit help from our members.

In the past we have listed Business of Wigston, Wigston Nick Names, Street Names of Wigston and their meanings. I have been working to produce a new list of Clubs, Groups, Societies and Organisations in Wigston Magna and South Wigston.

The list covers any group, however small or large. The objective is to produce the list and then expand upon each group, so we have a detailed record in the Heritage Centre.

The list is simple and contains only five fields per entry. These are:-

Group Name - Full Name and or abbreviation (A name can be listed twice once for Wigston Magna and once for South Wigston)

Location - Wigston Magna or South Wigston

Earliest Recorded Date - Hopefully we would be able to find the date the group started but the date shown is one that we can substantiate (i.e. by document or personal knowledge)

Latest Recorded Date - The dates shown are those we can substantiate.

Notes - Any further information like name change, place of meetings etc.

Here is where you can help. Please review the file using the link below, and see if you can add to it or correct information. I have very little information on Guides, Brownies, Cubs, Scouts which need to be expanded upon.

There are without doubt other clubs that I have missed.
